My Stupid Mistake Practicing Kaizen (Keep it Simple!) | Episode 8

Sometimes my good intentions (for perfection) leads to behavior that is very dumb.

In this case, I wanted to have pretty and perfect labels for inventory management on my shelves. It’s not necessarily a hard thing to do, but in our situation there were too many barriers and disruptions pulling me away from doing it well.

I hadn’t made any significant progress for two months!

When I realized how stupid this was, and how truly EASY it could be to just label a shelf with masking tape and a sharpie, I made massive and immediate progress.

Kaizen must be kept simple. It’s okay if it’s crude to begin with. It’s even okay if it is wrong! But it is not okay to get started.
